Combining her skills as an interdisciplinary artist, event producer, film festival curator, educator, and community organizer, Leslie Dreyer creates mixed-media installations, video and documentary projects, public art actions and tactical media to inspire both sociocultural dialogue and civic engagement. Her latest work embodies a hybrid form of public spectacle, theatrical intervention, performance art, and smart mob (preplanned, designed and/or choreographed flash mobs). These collaborative interventions have become laboratories in which a fluctuating crew can imagine and perform a newly engaged society and culture whose principles are based on equity, justice and ecological sanity.
Leslie also works as the Director of Programs for ShadowLight Productions and collaborates with other organizations to produce multimedia events highlighting social, cultural or environmental issues. She has just finished the documentary film Ghosts of the River: Out of the Shadows about a ShadowLight project illuminating stories from the US/Mexico border, which will premiere at the Roxie Theater in SF March 15, 2013.
